To top it all that is going on with our system of teaching, incorporating the core curriculum, standards, teacher evaluations and the rest, there is one one question hanging above our heads: will we be replaced by robots?
Today technology develops extraordinary fast taking over jobs of ordinary people and will it take over our jobs as educators? MOOCs or the giant, to the point of the word, classroom, Khan Academy online learning are new developing industry that will change the way of learning. It will change the classroom. Will IT?
As they said when the radio was created, the teachers will be replaced by it because it is enough to spread the word. But it was not enough. I may be subjective but I strongly believe we won't be replaced. We see our students, we talk eye to eye, we feel their pain and we do what is necessary to sent them into this new world.

Teaching Vsper
It is great thing to teach VSEPR. Especially by using gummy bear. By creating jelly drop to be middle atom and using gummy bears as attached atoms it gives to student of every age how fun and tasteful can be learning. Make sure you get the wholesale size bag of candies....Students get all excited but they learn they really learn...
To show variable of the shapes just take away gummy bear any way is possible...

Firts impression..
I was wondering always how important is that first impression. In life I figure it is not so much, however in classroom seams it can be more significant than somewhere else. In class if teacher comes and does not menge class it can be disastrous year a head. Imagine losing respect of students on the first day of teaching...it may bring year of misery.....Teaching is hard, it takes time effort, good will and practice to hsvr respect of students may do great job in handling class...

what would happened if we use up all our sources of metals in the World? What would world look like if from this moment on we would have to use nonmetals and metalloids to create accessories we need so much for our lives today. What are our odds to have long happy future?
After reading few of the 11th grade students answer to this question I figure that YES the kids have imagination. They came out with these strange worlds, without metals, reactions and happenings, diaries and daily entries of post metal world. It was inspiring to see writings and imagination at work. There were few quite interesting novel starters to be made one day. I know as fan of Science Fiction I will like to read some more... Keep the good job kids, and keep the hope alive ...

Why do students don't like learning science?
Hello everyone,
I am graduate student at Queens College. I am learning how to educate new generation of high school students in science. In order to be ready for classroom teaching I need to visit and observe classroom for few hours. In my observations in middle school I came across the mesmerizing questions students were asking their teacher while she was helping them prepare for regions exam in science. The question is: Why do we need to learn this(i.e. science)? Similar question repeated in 3 other classes i visited while the same subject of reviewing for exam was mentioned. While teachers explained the answer my thoughts drifted and i was thinking about the answer. Here is what I came up with:
It takes biology to explain how we take air in our lungs, it takes physics to explain how the lungs expand to create negative pressure that will push air in; it takes chemistry to explain the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in hemoglobin; biology to explain breathing; physics to explain the vibration of vocal cords and so on and so forth. And all this is used to explain process of how the student will ask the question 'why do we need science'. Well dear student, we need to learn science so you will know how do you function and if something is not working as it should, how to bring it back in order in your body and your physical world that surrounds you. Science may seem hard to understand but look around you science is everywhere...
